Colonel Edward Bolitho was born in Penzance and after school and university, joined the Army, serving with Grenadier Guards for 20 years throughout the world. He left the Army in 1998 to return to Cornwall.
Since then he has been responsible for running the family businesses; principally based in West Cornwall, this involves farming, property rental, building renovation and conversion and management of leisure activities.
He is involved in many voluntary and business organisations and was High Sheriff of Cornwall 2011-12. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall on 19th September 2011. He is married to Alexandra and they have twin daughters and one son.
