Support for voluntary and community organisations working with vulnerable adults

Cornwall Rural Community Council operates a service to help ‘build the capacity’ of voluntary and community sector organisations working with Vulnerable Adults.

So what is capacity building? It is defined by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister as “the right organisation, systems, partnerships, people and processes to deliver against a particular agenda or plan”, but in simpler terms it is about giving organisations the necessary ‘tools to the do job’.

This could include:

help to identify suitable training needs and opportunities
  • support regarding governance (including policies and procedures etc.)
  • improving opportunities to network with other voluntary and community based organisations
  • introducing groups to each other in order to complete joint funding bids
  • assist organisations, where appropriate to work better together, in order to make the best use of limited resources.

  • Work includes meeting voluntary and community organisations based in Cornwall that are involved with supporting and enriching the lives of people who are elderly or have a disability.
