The Community Planning service exists to promote and support community-led planning (CLP). Our intention is to enable groups to progress local action and to influence the work of key partners.
We also feel that CLP could be a good basis for Neighbourhood Planning – CRCC has been asked by Cornwall Council to work with two of the Neighbourhood Planning Front Runners. Please note that CRCC has produced a Neighbourhood Planning overview sheet – see downloads. Neighbourhood Planning is in its infancy and therefore the resource sheet is only to intended to provide some basic information. Therefore please ensure that you either contact CRCC or your Community Network Manager if you are interested in considering neighbourhood planning in more detail.
What is the Community Planning project about?
Working with communities to promote and support the community-led planning process – i.e. assisting communities who want to consult on, and produce an Action Plan, covering issues that are relevant to them, with the aim of progressing local action and influencing the work of key partners.
What can the Community Planning Project do for you?
We offer a support and advisory service to rural communities who wish to undertake community-led planning, helping them make informed decisions on the options available and supporting them as they work through the process. Also we work closely with the local authority and other organisations to promote and champion community planning at a strategic level on your behalf. As part of this we have compiled a database of community plan actions, provided case studies and information to show the impact and benefits of community planning.
How it works
Contact this office and a member of staff can then assess your needs and your current situation, and establish with you what support we can offer. We could, for example, speak at a Parish Council or public meeting if required; attend a steering group meeting; send on information, give feedback on survey, or talk through the problem on the phone or by email. You will be informed about the help that we are able to offer so you are clear about what we can and cannot do, and, where appropriate, we will also suggest other people/organizations that you might find helpful.
Support and Advice
We aim to help groups/parishes by phone, email and one-to-one support (e.g. attending meetings); providing information and advising on different aspects of the process such as community consultation; questionnaire design and content; running community events; plan content etc. From time to time we are also asked by other organizations (e.g. local authority) to run training or information sessions on community-led planning for parish councillors, community representatives and other interested parties
