In January 2011, CRCC launched Vital Venues in 2 pilot areas, the former Caradon and Carrick Districts. This phase will run until the end of March 2011. If you are based in either of these areas and are interested in further details, please read on. Also if you are elsewhere in the County, please contact Jon Teague (details below) to register your interest in joining when the scheme is rolled out across Cornwall.
What is Vital Venues?
Vital Venues is our new service that supports volunteers involved with managing their local community venues, such as: Village Halls, Community Centres, Church Halls, Reading Rooms, Institutes and any other community building, with the aim of developing thriving local facilities which are socially, financially and environmentally sustainable.
What can Vital Venues do for you?
The CRCC are specialists in offering support to communities and have been doing so for decades. This new membership scheme is at a low cost and offers a range of benefits to help volunteers save time, save money, be better informed and provide improved facilities. The service is totally ‘not for profit’ and all subscription fees go back into the service to develop it.
Some examples of the benefits offered are:
- a package of financial discounts and other incentives to reduce running costs
- a centralised promotion service
- a comprehensive range of management, project development and funding resources
- specialist advice relating to community building governance issues
- a Cornwall-wide online forum
- up to date national and local news relating to community buildings
- support and encouragement towards enterprising management
For a full list of benefits and more information, Vital Venues has its own dedicated website at www.vitalvenues.org.uk
Cost
The annual membership fee is £99. The opportunities within the package are not only financial, although by taking up some of the offers of discounts alone, members should be able to make big savings. Other reasons to join include saving you volunteering time, to be kept well informed of issues affecting Community Buildings, advice and assistance with management issues and to connect with other volunteers across Cornwall providing the same role as you in their community.
