Two bright young volunteers from the Clay area, Rosie Hawke and Abi Bilkey have been invited by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Lady Mary Holborrow, to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace during July in recognition of the voluntary contribution to their community.
The two eighteen year olds have been actively involved in the Cornwall Rural Community Council’s Young People Too (YP2) service based in St Dennis and have averaged between 40/50 voluntary hours per year over the last four years.
Both Abi and Rosie have taken part in activities and volunteer opportunities within the Clay communities ranging from organising and planning mini play schemes for children, providing face painting and hair wrapping sessions for local organisations as well as assisting with community consultation events and conferences.
