World Health Organisation gathering takes place in Truro

The World Health Organisation brought together representatives from the Cornwall Rural Community Council’s Mental Health team and their service users and mental health users and carers from Palestine. The purpose of the gathering centres around the 'Whole Life' project, started as a joint initiative between the National Institute for Mental Health (NIMHE) Eastern and the World Health Organisation with Cornwall being chosen as one of five 'development' sites in this country. The UK sites were linked with five sites in Europe that the World Health Organisation regarded as centres of excellence for innovation and holistic approaches to mental health.

The visit hopes to assist the Palestine Government to develop modern mental health services, but it also provided a very enlightening discussion for the Cornish mental health team and service users enabling them to compare mental health systems.
