Young Carers in Cornwall hold their third Conference, named by the young carers themselves; Shooting Stars – Our Future.
On Thursday 29th January at the Royal Cornwall Showground – members pavilion from 9.30 a.m. – 4.00 pm, The CRCC’s Cornwall Young Carers Project will hold a conference that will look at the history of the project and how it has effectively worked with young people from 4 to 18 years of age who care for their parents due to ill health.
At present over 380 young people between these ages have been identified as having a caring role, and the Project works really hard to ensure that they are supported and have “time out” of their caring role.
The conference, which will be lead by young carers, is aimed at professionals working in both the voluntary and statutory services with the aim of giving them a greater understanding of the role and issues young carers experience.
The Cornwall Young Carers Service is managed by CRCC (Cornwall Rural Community Council), a registered charity and the funding for the conference has been provided from “Our Money Your Dream”, a fund allocated to Cornwall from The Youth Opportunity Fund and The Young Capital Fund to improve the provision of positive activities for young people.
