The Cornwall Rural Community Council has appointed a Community Enterprise Officer, Bob Northey, to develop the new service and provide assistance and advice for local communities interested in developing community enterprises such as village shops, recycling schemes, community cafes. Bob will be supporting groups throughout Cornwall working closely with colleagues involved in community regeneration, parish plans and village halls.

Social enterprises in Cornwall already enjoy international acclaim following the huge success of the Eden project and Fifteen restaurant. Bob says "There are scores of smaller initiatives run by local communities now rising to the challenge of delivering much needed services, utilizing volunteers and providing vital employment opportunities through the community enterprise model. This is a really exciting opportunity for us to develop this growing sector of the economy".
