From 1 October 2009, two mental health projects, Sanctuary and Nightlink will be leaving the CRCC (Cornwall Rural Community Council) and will be becoming part of Re-Gain (Cornwall) C.I.C, the first mental health specific social enterprise company in Cornwall.
The CRCC has independently hosted many mental health related projects over many years. Sanctuary was launched under the CRCC banner in 2001. It was conceived as a pilot mental health initiative for Cornwall, offering time limited time out in a safe, supportive, non-medical environment. The Sanctuary House has been running successfully and at full capacity for the entire period. Nightlink, also under CRCC’s wing since 2000, is a county-wide free phone listening service for anyone who has or is experiencing emotional distress.
Due to their success Sanctuary and Nightlink are now in a position to stand alone. The CRCC have whole-heartedly facilitated and encouraged the process of the new Re-Gain enterprise. Peter Jefferson, Chief Executive says ‘We are very proud of the Sanctuary and Nightlink staff, they deliver exceptional services. We have mixed emotions over their departure, sadness that they are leaving the CRCC umbrella and yet delighted for Re-gain and their ground breaking social enterprise. We wish Re-gain and all their staff all of the very best in the years ahead.’
The formal launch of this new initiative is on 1 October, 1.30pm to 3pm, at the Quaker meeting House in St Austell. Anyone wishing to attend should call 0845 122 8668.
