Join The Poverty Debate

CRCC’s (Cornwall Rural Community Council) and The Independent Poverty Forum are to hold an informal poverty discussion and open debate at the CRCC’s Drop In And Share Project based at the back of Camborne Parish Church on Thursday 17th April.

The poverty open debate is just one in a series of debates held throughout Cornwall; to date events have taken place in Bodmin, Truro, Wadebridge, Penzance and Liskeard. The aim of the event is to allow people to talk openly in an informal way about their experiences of social exclusion, and how they coped overcoming difficulties. Organisations that work in this area will also be attending with displays and talks using case study examples and information about how they may help.

Some of the topics to be covered include homelessness, drug abuse, living in poverty, eating disorders, sexual abuse and any other topic that may be raised by individuals and representatives of support organisations during the informal debate and discussions. The information gathered will be used by the Independent Poverty Forum to continue to influence policy, particularly the Government’s Social Exclusion Unit.

So please drop in anytime between 10am and 3pm Thursday 17th April at the back of Camborne Parish Church opposite Aldis. If you are a representative working for a support organisation please come along and tell us about your work.

For more information regarding this event please contact Glynn Roberts 07944531483.
