CRCC welcomes new Chief Executive

Peter Jefferson

The CRCC are delighted to welcome on board, new Chief Executive, Peter Jefferson, who has been seconded to the CRCC since January this year. Peter is happy to admit he’s on a steep learning curve joining the voluntary sector after his previous career with the Navy. He formally leaves the Navy and takes up his post with CRCC on the 24th of April.

Peter knows almost every inch of Cornwall from the air, as his previous life was spent as Royal Naval Observer (Navigator), progressing from student, to operational aircrew, to instructor then Squadron Commanding Officer based mainly at RNAS Culdrose on the Lizard. He is now getting to grips with the diverse array of projects CRCC supports across the County. To name a few areas covered are projects supporting vulnerable groups, young people and the ageing community, to advising community projects, helping them plan their future and advising on accessing the funding minefield.

The CRCC is a long established charity, set up in 1946 and with the mission 'To empower individuals and groups across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in order to sustain and enhance the quality of life in the community.’

Peter is impressed by the wealth of experience the CRCC offer and their ability to respond to local needs as circumstances change. He is looking forward to his new challenge; “leading the CRCC through the tough years that we know lie ahead for the county of Cornwall and it's rural communities”.
