Carers Carol Service

This year, the Carer’s Carol Service will be held in Truro Methodist Church on Monday 1 December at 2pm.

The service will be conducted by Canon Rob Dickenson and carers will be taking part along with the children from St Hilary Primary School. After the service there will be an opportunity for people to hang their thoughts and wishes on the Christmas tree and tea and mince pies will be available to everyone.

There are estimated to be 55,000 carers in Cornwall whose lives are often restricted by taking responsibility for the care of someone who, due to frailty, severe illness or disability is unable to remain in their own home without their support. Carers can be any age and often feel that their needs are overlooked and no-one has time to listen to them. The Carers’ Support Service and the Young Carers Project, managed by Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC), offers impartial advice, information, support and for young carers, activities, which could help in their caring roles and make a difference to their lives.

The carol service will celebrate the valuable contribution carers make in enabling so many people in Cornwall to remain in their own homes despite their frailty or disability. Everyone is welcome and the Carers’ Support Workers will be available after the service to provide further information on the services CRCC provide for carers. Details of the service can also be obtained by telephoning 01872 243531.
