The event was put on by the CRCC’s Mental Health Project and sponsored by NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, and took place in Truro on Friday 3rd April.
The event was open to anyone with Asperger’s, professionals, carers and anyone else who has an interest and wanted to find out more. More than 70 people turned up, more than double the expected number.
The aim of the event was to increase awareness of Asperger’s, whilst providing the opportunity to talk to like-minded people who wish to see the situation for people with Asperger’s improved and strengthened here in Cornwall.
Guest speaker, Kath Smith from The Sensory Project gave an informative talk on the benefits of Sensory Processing and Movement approaches. And many other organisations were on hand offering advice and support and to provide much needed information about Asperger’s.
Jenny Pheby CRCC’S Mental Health Project Manager said, “Many attendees signed up to receive more support and information and we are now hoping to put on another event in the not to distance future.”
