About Us

The Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC) is a Charity, founded in 1946 and established as a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee in 2001.

CRCC is part of a network of 38 rural community council’s across England, all sharing the aim of enhancing rural communities. Rural community council’s maintain close relations with national and local government, but are independent organisations with a separate role to play in promoting rural needs to all agencies.

We run a wide variety of projects across Cornwall. We have services for carers, people with mental health issues and also for children and young people. We offer direct support to communities/community buildings and signpost other services to them. We act on behalf of local communities lobbying for them at a local and national level. We conduct research and survey work for and with communities, identifying and evidencing their needs or development of community plans. We work directly with community/social inclusion groups and also provide services to the voluntary sector as a whole. We are host to LINk (Local Involvement Network) in Cornwall, a service which provides an opportunity to help build a representative voice that seeks to inform, develop and improve local health and social care services.

We are represented at a national level by ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) and in the region by SWAN (South West ACRE Network). Our principle local partnership is with CIP (Cornwall Infrastructure Partnership).
